New Managing Director appointed for Central Regional TAFE

  • Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery today welcomed the appointment, by His Excellency the Honourable Kim Beazley AC, Governor of Western Australia, of Jo Payne to the position of Managing Director at Central Regional TAFE.

    Ms Payne has been appointed for a five-year term commencing in May 2022.

    With more than 32 years of experience working in vocational education and training in the region, Ms Payne’s appointment provides Central Regional TAFE with strong leadership to meet the workforce needs across central-regional WA.

    As the TAFE college’s former Director of Training Services, Ms Payne has extensive local and regional knowledge, and has forged strong relationships with industry, community and key stakeholders.

    Ms Payne’s appointment comes at a critical time for the college, which recorded an increase of over 23 per cent in course enrolments in 2021, while apprenticeship and traineeship commencements increased by 26 per cent in 2021.

    Ms Payne holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Australia, a Graduate Diploma in Library and Information Studies from Curtin University of Technology, and a Graduate Certificate in Management (Professional Practice) from Charles Sturt University.

    As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:

    “Ms Payne’s extensive regional experience in the training sector will be invaluable in this role.

    “Ms Payne has demonstrated strong commitment to working with regional stakeholders to ensure training meets the needs and expectations of students, industry and the community.

    “I congratulate Ms Payne on her appointment and welcome her to the role of Managing Director of Central Regional TAFE.”
