New Mayor Elected

City of Whitehorse Mayor Sharon Ellis

Whitehorse City Council elected Cr Sharon Ellis as its new Mayor for 2019/2020 at a Special Statutory Council Meeting yesterday.

Cr Ellis said she was honoured to be elected Mayor and looked forward to working closely with her councillor colleagues, the organisation and community for the next 12 months.

“We have a fantastic community and I look forward to listening to them and learning from them. As Mayor, I will continue to prioritise the wellbeing of this municipality I care deeply about,” Cr Ellis said

“Thanks go to my family for their support during my career to date with Council, and many thanks to my fellow Councillors for their faith in me and electing me Mayor for the next 12 months.

“Whitehorse is a highly regarded Council and I’m excited to represent the municipality to our state and federal representatives and advocate for the best interests of Whitehorse.”

Cr Ellis will serve the community as a Councillor representative on various organisations and will have additional responsibilities as Mayor of the Day.

Cr Ellis is serving her fifth term as a Councillor and third term as mayor.

Cr Ellis’ interests include planning and environment, affordable housing, aged care and disability issues.
