The R Penman Reserve Playground in Wilson Road just behind the shops in Blairgowrie is set to get a makeover.

The improved playground will entertain local families and visitors for hours and include:

  • triple swing including a swing seat with back support and basket swing for inclusive play
  • play boat
  • traditional play items including monkey bars and slide
  • scramble rocks
  • rubber soft fall ground cover with ocean design
  • concrete pathways
  • picnic tables
  • bike racks
  • new garden beds and landscape planting throughout the reserve
  • realigned and formalised car parking spaces.

Blairgowrie locals have been passionately involved in this project, with many community groups and individuals contributing their ideas for the reserve. This feedback has helped us develop the playground concept.

An independent community fundraiser invited people to purchase fence pickets with their names engraved. The campaign raised $5,700 for the playground construction. These sponsored pickets will be incorporated in the new playground layout.

Works are scheduled to start next week.
