A new primary school in Perth’s popular north-eastern suburbs has been officially named Brabham Primary School.
The $18.5 million school is the first to be built in the suburb of Brabham, an area named in honour of Australian motor racing legend, Sir Jack Brabham, who raced there during the early days of his racing career.
Construction of the school – located on Lakefield Drive in Brabham – started in 2019.
The school will welcome students from Kindergarten to Year 6 when it opens next year and has the capacity for 540 students.
The first-class facilities include an early childhood teaching block, four classroom blocks including a specialised one for art and science, library resource centre, covered assembly area with canteen, music room, administration building, hard courts and a grassed oval for physical education and outdoor activities.
This is part of the State Government’s $513.6 million investment in new Western Australian public schools and upgrades to existing facilities across the State, creating jobs for Western Australians and ensuring students have access to modern education facilities.
As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:
“What an exciting day for the Brabham community who were consulted during the process of naming the school.
“From next year we will have this outstanding modern learning environment available to children in the area.”
As stated by West Swan MLA Rita Saffioti:
“Brabham is one of the fastest-growing suburbs in the State, so Brabham Primary School will relieve enrolment pressure on nearby schools.”
“This was a key election commitment I made at the last election, and I am so happy to see it being delivered.
“I know families in the area can’t wait to see this school open.”
