New Riverside Park Play Space for North Shore

Port Macquarie-Hastings

Port Macquarie Hastings Council (PMHC) is continuing its delivery of new and improved public play spaces for the community with the successful completion of a $140,000 Riverside Park Play Space at North Shore.

Following a request from the North Side Progress Association for a new play area in 2021, PMHC developed a draft concept design for a play space in March 2022 at Riverside Park on the North Shore.

The play elements included in the design have been delivered in full, with a core focus on providing play for all ages and abilities. The upgrades, which include nature play elements, picnic shelter, connecting paths, landscaping and informal parking were all made possible courtesy of $140,000 in funding support from the NSW Government.

Port Macquarie Hastings Mayor Peta Pinson said the project builds on the commitment of Council to provide a large range of outdoor recreational spaces for our residents.

“The North Shore community came to us with a vision to create a space that would cater for an active living environment for young people and foster community interaction,” Mayor Pinson said.

“So Council, in collaboration with them, embarked on extensive collaboration with the North Shore Progress Association to provide a fit-for-purpose play space that would nurture this type of environment.

“I want to thank Council and the North Shore for all the work you’ve done to deliver this project and acknowledge the commitment of the NSW Government for funding its delivery.”
