New sporting facilities to include female friendly change rooms

New female friendly sporting club change rooms at four Ballarat locations are now a step closer following the appointment of Dock 4 Architects to lead the design and tender document process.

The four venues that will receive new change rooms are Ballarat Soccer Club, Pleasant Street Reserve; netball change rooms for Ballarat Football Netball Club, Alfredton Recreation Reserve; netball change rooms for Sebastopol Football Netball Club, Marty Busch Reserve; and Buninyong Soccer Club at Royal Park, Buninyong.

The four facilities will be new constructions with the Pleasant Street and Marty Busch sites replacing outdated change rooms, toilets and shower facilities.

All projects and upgrades aim to ensure that female-friendly facilities are available at all sporting facilities across Ballarat. The facilities are used by many sporting groups including, AFL, netball and soccer, and are very popular throughout the community.

Designs for the new sites are due to be finished by the end of May, with construction to follow from September to next April.

“The City is getting on with the job of building community facilities and providing a strong economic stimulus to the local economy,” the Mayor, Cr Ben Taylor, said.

“These new constructions are long overdue and will add a lot of comfort to players and spectators alike.

“All sports changing rooms need to be female friendly. Let’s look forward to next year when these constructions are up and running and we can enjoy playing and watching sport again.”
