New sports facilities officially opened at Wanneroo Secondary College

  • Premier Mark McGowan has visited Wanneroo Secondary College today to officially open the state-of-the-art sporting facilities.

    Students will enjoy a brand new sports hall with professional-quality sports flooring and equipment. The college’s four existing tennis courts have also been refurbished to ensure students have access to high-quality infrastructure.

    The $5 million project was a key McGowan Government election commitment.

    Construction was completed by local Western Australian company Crothers Construction and was delivered ahead of schedule.

    The McGowan Government is undertaking a major investment in schools in Perth’s northern suburbs, including new early childhood education centres for East Wanneroo and Spring Hill Primary Schools, a performing arts centre for Wanneroo Secondary College and new classrooms for Joseph Banks Secondary College.

    As stated by Premier Mark McGowan:

    “I am proud to officially open the impressive new sports facilities at Wanneroo Secondary College.

    “We’re delivering on a key election commitment to make sure students in Western Australia are learning in the best possible facilities.

    “As part of the WA Recovery Plan, my Government is investing an unprecedented $492.2 million in school infrastructure across the State, which is supporting WA’s economic recovery and delivering fantastic learning facilities.”

    As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:

    “There are more than 1,100 students enrolled at Wanneroo Secondary College who will benefit from these state-of-the-art new facilities.

    “We want to make sure students have every opportunity to thrive and succeed at school, and these modern facilities help create a welcoming and exciting learning environment.

    “Wanneroo Secondary College has a fantastic physical education program and I look forward to seeing how students make use of these new facilities to pursue their sporting goals.”

    As stated by Wanneroo MLA Sabine Winton:

    “Today is a significant milestone for Wanneroo Secondary College.

    “As a former student of Wanneroo Secondary College, I’m proud of the work I have done advocating for the school and am excited about the opening of the new sports facility which will serve the students and community well for many years to come.”
