New Toowoomba Region Aerodromes Advisory Committee members announced

Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) today (September 15) announced the new community members who will serve on Council’s renamed Toowoomba Region Aerodromes Advisory Committee.

The appointment of Marty Taylor, Paul Coughran, Matt Handley, Keith Mackenzie and Andrew Walker to the voluntary advisory committee was approved at today’s TRC September Ordinary Meeting.

Council in June endorsed TRC Infrastructure Services Committee portfolio leader Cr Melissa Taylor as the advisory committee’s chair with additional Council representation from Cr Carol Taylor (Infrastructure Services Committee chair) and Cr James O’Shea (Environment and Community Services Committee chair).

Cr Melissa Taylor said the first meeting of the new advisory committee was expected to be held in October.

“Renaming the advisory committee will broaden its functions to provide assistance and input across all four Council aviation facilities (Toowoomba City Aerodrome, Pittsworth and Millmerran aerodromes and the Crows Nest Helipad,” Cr Taylor said.

“The broader name also reflects Council’s interests in promoting further use of the Pittsworth and Millmerran aerodrome landing areas, in addition to acknowledging the important emergency services role of the Crows Nest Helipad.”

Cr Taylor said advice provided by TCAAC had helped Council develop a 10-year, staged development plan for Toowoomba City Aerodrome.
