- New trails, picnic area and gardens for Western Australia’s first national park
- Construction of a 730-metre access road also underway
- Upgrades come following award of $1.7 million contract to build 270-bay carpark
Western Australia’s inaugural national park has received a makeover with a new day-use area and trails now open to visitors.
Upgrades at John Forrest National Park in Perth’s hills include:
- Noolbenger trail, a new 16km off-road cycle trail now for cyclists and runners;
- Little Eagle trail, a new 8km loop trail;
- realignments, maintenance, and extension works to the popular Eagle View, Wildflower and Glen Brook trails;
- landscaped gardens; and
- accessible picnic and barbecue facilities.
Construction of a new, 730-metre access road is also underway and is due to be completed in the first half of this year.
These upgrades come following the recent award of a $1.7 million contract to construct a 270-bay carpark which will be built to the west of Glen Brook and the park’s existing visitor precinct parking area.
Work on the carpark is due to commence in March and is expected to be complete in late-2024.
As stated by Environment Minister Reece Whitby:
“John Forrest National Park is a special part of Western Australia as our State’s first national park, and I am excited to see these improvements to it take shape.
“These new trails and picnic areas complement the surrounding landscape and will give visitors more experiences to enjoy.
