Transport Minister Rita Saffioti has today unveiled the designs for a new venue in the
Albany Waterfront Marina precinct.
The unveiling of the new venue follows an expression of interest process by the Department
of Transport late last year and the selection of a proponent to develop a 1,734 square metre
site on the western side of the marina on Toll Place.
The site is owned by the Department of Transport, with the Government signing a 21-year
lease with Great Southern Seafood, who will be developing a new licensed café/restaurant,
bar and retail shop.
Works are now underway to connect the site to essential services, with the Government investing $360,000 to extend water, gas, electricity, sewerage and communications services.
The extension of services is scheduled for completion in December and follows earlier works to upgrade lighting along Toll Place in 2021. The project is funded by the State Government’s $5.5 billion WA Recovery Plan.

“This looks like a fantastic venue that will help draw more crowds down to the marina and offer another hospitality choice to tourists and locals in Albany.
“Our Government is investing in initiatives that will help create jobs and boost local economies – and this project is part of a broader push to activate State Government marine facilities across WA.
“Works are now underway on connecting critical services to the 1,734 square metre site including water, electricity, gas, sewerage and communication services.
“Importantly, the works have been awarded to a local contractor, which will help to employ local trades, with the project expected to create around ten full-time jobs.”
