Community and stakeholder consultation is progressing on the $15 million Huon Health Precinct and Mental Health Hub, marking a major milestone in delivering more access to health services for the entire Huon Valley.
The Department of Health is establishing local working groups as part of broader community consultation, including local health care professionals and providers, as well as community representatives from the health, education and industry sectors, with workshops commencing from 21 September 2026.
Feedback received through these working groups will inform service planning, site selection, and the design process, and there will be further consultation opportunities for the precinct as the design develops.
This next stage of consultation follows initial discussions held with key community stakeholders and health care providers in the region to ensure the precinct reflects local needs.
Minister for Health, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Bridget Archer, said the precinct will help meet the growing need for accessible, high-quality health and mental health care closer to home for residents in the Huon Valley region, supporting local families with extended services.
“Local engagement will be central to shaping this new precinct which will help ease pressure on existing local health services and provide a more modern, fit-for-purpose setting for patients and health workers.
“Through our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future we’re committed to delivering more access to health services for Tasmanians, closer to home.”
