It’s National Water Week from 19 October to 25 October 2020.

National Water Week aims to inspire individuals, communities and organisations to build awareness around the value of water. The theme for 2020 is Reimagining our Water Future.

As part of National Water Week, Mornington Peninsula Shire is encouraging you to discover your local waterway. The Mornington Peninsula is thriving with amazing coastal and bushland walks you can explore.

To help you find amazing waterway and coastal walks, we’ve put together a map highlighting over 30 walks throughout the Peninsula, including those perfect for a nice stroll, more advanced walks and dog friendly walks.

This National Water Week you can also learn how you can protect your local waterways.

Each of us can play our part to protect our local waterways, to ensure our oceans and creeks and the plants and animals within them stay healthy.

Mornington Peninsula Shire has collaborated with Melbourne Water to present 10 tips on what you can do to protect our waterways and bays:

  1. dispose of litter responsibly
  2. pick up after your pets
  3. don’t put anything except water down storm drains
  4. avoid using pesticides or chemical fertilizers
  5. choose non-toxic household products whenever possible
  6. use sea-safe sunscreen at the beach
  7. manage garden waste
  8. revegetate creek banks
  9. always take fishing line home to prevent entanglement
  10. join a local Beach Patrol.
