Essential maintenance works will be carried out overnight on the Ballarat line this week as part of the Andrews Labor Government’s ongoing investment to boost reliability.
Ballarat line passengers who use late evening services are asked to plan ahead with weeknight works scheduled from Monday to Wednesday this week.
With no trains running from 8.30pm each evening, the V/Line team will be able to carry out detailed inspections and repair any equipment as required before trains return each morning ahead of the peak.
The signal team will also replace and upgrade some of the existing signal light bulbs in the area between Deer Park and Caroline Springs with modern LED replacements, which are more efficient and eco-friendlier – reducing costs and helping the environment.
These works have been scheduled at night, early in the week to minimise the disruption to passengers.
Last month, the Ballarat line recorded its best performance so far in 2019, with both reliability and punctuality targets exceeded for the first time since 2016.
Ongoing maintenance is essential for boosting reliability, as it helps to minimise the chance of faults on the network that can cause delays and inconvenience passengers.
Passengers are encouraged to plan ahead and allow an additional 40 minutes for their journey on coach replacement services. For more information visit vline.com.au.
