No solutions to health crisis after 10 years of Liberal Government

Tasmanian Labor

Premier Jeremy Rockliff is failing Tasmanians who continue to languish on the waitlist for specialist appointments.

Health dashboard data released today shows there are more than 57,000 Tasmanians on the waiting list to see a specialist – 32,000 more than when the Liberals were elected nearly 10 years ago.

In the South, urgent neurosurgery patients are waiting 906 days – or nearly three years – just to see a specialist, while those on the semi-urgent list are waiting nearly five years.

These incredibly long waits are damaging the quality of life for tens of thousands of Tasmanians.

It is also concerning to see the elective surgery waiting list rising again, while our emergency departments – today revealed as the worst in the country – continue to struggle to see patients within recommended timeframes.

It is clear the Liberals have no plan to start addressing the shocking state of our health system – and if they haven’t come up with one after 10 years in office, they never will.
