Nominations for the 2025 Graham Gregory Award recognising outstanding contributions to the NSW wine industry are now open.
This prestigious award, open to winemakers and winegrape growers, viticulturists, researchers, educators, business leaders and innovators, is named in honour of NSW wine industry pioneer Graham Gregory.
Presented each year by the NSW Government’s Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (NSW DPIRD) at the NSW Wine Awards (Fri 30 Oct 2026), past recipients have come from all corners of the wine industry and represent some of the most influential and transformative figures of Australian wine for more than 30 years.
NSW DPIRD Director of Horticulture Dr Alison Anderson said this award honours the legacy of Graham Gregory, former NSW DPIRD Deputy Director General and visionary who helped shape the modern NSW wine industry.
“This award is about recognising those who are driving innovation, sustainability and excellence in winegrowing, winemaking, and beyond in NSW,” Dr Anderson said.
“Each year, people nominate themselves or a professional in the wine sector for their significant contributions to the NSW wine industry.
“Last year’s winner, Sally Evans, was recognised for exceptional leadership, service and influence on the New South Wales wine industry.
“Their contribution highlights the calibre of individuals who continue to strengthen and champion the NSW wine industry.”
NSW Wine President Mark Bourne said each year we proudly hand out the Graham Gregory Award to an individual that has made a lasting and meaningful contribution to the NSW wine industry.
“It is given to individuals who leave the industry in a better place than when they entered it and past winners include our most influential viticulturists, winemakers, researchers. business owners and thought leaders,” Mr Bourne said.
“It is a challenge each year to pick just one recipient, and we look forward to see who is nominated this year.”
The Graham Gregory Award is awarded retrospectively each year.
The 2025 winner will be announced on Friday 30 October 2026, with the trophy formally presented at the ICC Sydney NSW Wine Awards.
Nominations for the 2025 Graham Gregory Award will close at 5pm on Sunday 18 October 2026 and can be submitted via the online form here.
