Nominations now open for Shellharbour City Australia Day awards 2020

Shellharbour City Council is encouraging residents to nominate individuals that make a positive difference in the community and help inspire others for the 2020 Australia Day Citizen Awards.

Every year Council and the Shellharbour community come together to acknowledge the unsung heroes who make outstanding contributions to the region. Award categories include Citizen of the Year and Young Citizen of the Year for nominees aged under 25.

Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba said that she was looking forward to recognizing the people that go above and beyond to make Shellharbour City such a fantastic place to live, work and play.

“Nominating a local resident for an Australia Day Citizen Award is a wonderful opportunity to highlight the achievements and thank those who enrich the lives of people in our community,” Cr Saliba said.

Previous award winners have come from a range of diverse backgrounds and have included young people taking action for a brighter future, passionate volunteers, high achieving sportspeople and those dedicated to sustaining our natural environment.

Council will be presenting the Australia Day Citizen Awards during the Australia Day Breakfast celebrations at Reddall Reserve, 26 January 2020. The day will include a $4 breakfast, live music, free family entertainment and market stalls, as well as the citizenship ceremony.

Nominations are open until 4.30pm, Friday 6 December 2019 and application forms can be found at www.shellharbour.nsw.gov.au/whats-on/council/australia-day-breakfast-lake
