Nominations open for Greater Shepparton Heritage Advisory Committee community representatives

Greater Shepparton City Council is welcoming nominations from individuals interested in joining the Greater Shepparton Heritage Advisory Committee.

The Heritage Advisory Committee advises Council on cultural heritage matters from across Greater Shepparton.

The Committee has representatives from 10 member historical organisations and two Councillors. It also has a minimum of two and a maximum of six community representative positions for those who are not affiliated with the historical groups or societies nominated to the Committee. The community representative positions are voting members of the Committee and are appointed for a two-year term.

The community representative positions on the Committee will become vacant in September and Council is currently seeking members to fill these roles. These appointments will begin in October 2023 and conclude in October 2025.

Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, encouraged people with an interest in heritage issues across Greater Shepparton to apply.

“I encourage Greater Shepparton locals who may have an interest in the region’s heritage to put their hands up for one of the community representative positions,” he said.

“It is a fantastic opportunity to sit on this committee and involves having a say in the planning and execution of a number of successful community events, including the Heritage Open Days and the Cultural Heritage Awards.”

Committee meetings are held on the first Monday of every month or at other times as determined by members.

Nomination forms can be lodged electronically or by hard copy, and are available on Council’s website at or in the foyer of Greater Shepparton City Council’s offices at 90 Welsford Street, Shepparton.

Nominations close at 5pm on Friday, 8 September 2023.
