Nominations open for national Australia Council Awards

The Australia Council for the Arts is calling for nominations for its national awards with nominations closing 1 October 2019.

The Australia Council is calling for nominations for outstanding artists in all areas of practice for the 2020 Australia Council Awards and 2019 Australia Council National Arts and Disability Awards.

Both awards recognise outstanding and sustained contributions across music, literature, community arts and cultural development (CACD), emerging and experimental arts (EEA), visual arts, theatre, dance or a combination of these areas.

The National Arts and Disability Awards celebrate the work and achievements of both established and emerging artists, and the significant contribution of artists with disability to the vibrancy of Australian arts. ;

The Australia Council is calling for nominations for the 2019 awards with award recipients announced later this year.

The categories are:

  • The National Arts and Disability Award (Established Artist) ;($50,000)
  • The National Arts and Disability Award (Emerging Artist) ; ($20,000)

The Australia Council Award categories include:

  • Australia Council Award for Lifetime Achievement in Literature ($25,000)
  • Australia Council Don Banks Music ($25,000)
  • Australia Council Award for Visual Arts ;($25,000)
  • Australia Council Award for Emerging and Experimental Arts ;($25,000)
  • Australia Council Award for Dance ;($25,000)
  • Australia Council Award for Theatre ;($25,000)
  • Australia Council ;Ros Bower Award for Community Arts and Cultural Development ; ($25,000)
  • Australia Council ;Kirk Robson Award for Community Arts and Cultural Development ; ($10,000)

The awards acknowledge the contribution Australian artists make to the arts and cultural life of the nation and will be awarded in early 2020.
