North Queensland life inspires Short Story Competition winners

The prompt “my life in the North” has inspired three winning Townsville CityLibraries Short Story Competition pieces from more than 100 entries.

Community and Cultural Development Committee chairperson Ann-Maree Greaney said the response to the competition was incredible.

“The Short Story Competition spans across three categories – adult, young adult and children,” Cr Greaney said.

“To have more than 100 entries into the competition was fantastic and the winning pieces are well worth reading.

“I’d like to offer a huge congratulations to our winners, Damien Lawardorn, Lily Reeves and Brooklyn Pritchard, for their entries.”

Cr Greaney said Townsville City Council had a strong focus on fostering creative talent in Townsville.

“Our city is packed full of people with strong interest in the creative arts and it’s fantastic that Council is able to offer creative outlets for locals,” she said.

“I’d highly recommend reading the winning entries, as well as the runners up, on the Council website.”
