Northrop Grumman Australia has opened a A$20 million laboratory in Canberra. Called Parallax Labs, it is a systems integration, advanced mission visualisation and demonstration facility.

Showcasing technology capabilities to the world

Parallax Labs features an immersive and interactive operations room-style environment. Its large-area displays and reconfigurable technologies allow stakeholders to envision and test technologies and solutions.

Northrop Grumman will use the lab to showcase its local and international capabilities to industry partners, customers and technology organisations. It will do this in a way that preserves the integrity of classified, export and trade-controlled information.

Parallax Labs can be scaled through the cloud to include new capabilities and locations in Australia and overseas.

We are committed to developing and investing in sovereign Australian capability,’ says Christine Zeitz, General Manager, Northrop Grumman Asia Pacific.

‘Parallax Labs represents a critical component of how Northrop Grumman Australia can support projects with complex system architectures and highly-integrated technologies.

‘Importantly, it also serves to facilitate the transfer of technology and the development of Australian critical technology skills. This will benefit Australia’s defence industry now and into the future.’

Northrop Grumman has been supporting defence and civil programs in Australia for more than 20 years. Its investments have included the Electronic Sustainment Centre of Excellence in Sydney. The Centre is an advanced defence electronics maintenance and sustainment capability centre. It was established in partnership with the Australian Defence Force. The company also works with Australian companies to develop and manufacture parts for the global aerospace market.
