Comments attributed to Tourism Minister Rita Saffioti:
“Novak Djokovic and Iga Swiatek are some of the world’s most famous and best tennis players, and we cannot wait to welcome them to play in Perth this summer, plus of course, our Aussie stars led by Alex de Minaur and Ajla Tomljanovic.
“Last year’s inaugural United Cup injected millions into the WA economy and we are thrilled to see the event return this year, to drive out-of-state visitation to WA and to give the local community an opportunity to see some of the world’s best tennis action at RAC Arena.
“Events like the United Cup elevate WA’s reputation as a world-leading host of major sporting and cultural events and showcase our beautiful State on a global stage.”
As stated by Sports and Recreation Minister David Templeman:
“We know Western Australians love their tennis, so we expect a strong turnout from the community, to get a chance to see tennis superstars up close and personal.
“With many Western Australians enjoying their Christmas break at this time of year, it’s the perfect opportunity to head out for the day or evening with the family or friends to see some world-class tennis right here in Perth.”
