NRL Star Visits New Home of Local Rugby League at Warren Park

Parramatta Eel Nathan Brown received a sneak peek tour of the new $25 million local Home of Rugby League at Warren Park with Minister for Tourism, Sport and Culture, Lauren Moss today.

With the first players set to run out at Warren Park later this month, the new facility will help to grow the game of rugby league in the Territory.

There will also be a Community Day on Sunday 19 May to celebrate the opening of Warren Park and encourage Top Enders to get involved in the sport.

Local company Halikos Group was awarded the contract to build the stadium and playing fields, creating around 120 jobs for locals and stimulating the local economy.

Eel Nathan Brown is in Darwin to meet with members from the Territorys rugby league community and promote next months Parramatta Eels vs Canberra Raiders match.

The Round 15 game will be played at TIO Stadium on Saturday 29 June and is anticipated to draw rugby fans to the Top End from right around Australia.

There will also be free community activities across Katherine and Darwin as part of the Eels visit to the Territory, including an open training, signing sessions and much more.

As noted by Minister for Tourism, Sport and Culture, Lauren Moss:

We have done what the previous CLP government failed to do by giving local rugby league its much needed new home.

The new facility will help to grow rugby league in the Territory, get more women and girls involved in the game and give local players the facilities they deserve.

I encourage everyone to come along to the open day and have a look at this fabulous new facility which further cements Marrara as the Top Ends premier sporting hub.

Warren Park is a fantastic new home for local rugby league and marks another election promise delivered.

As noted by Parramatta Eels Club Chief Executive Officer, Bernie Gurr:

Brad Arthur and the team really look forward to playing in the Northern Territory every year, its our home away from home and they love the support from local members and fans.

Our team is playing fantastic footy this season and theyre looking forward to putting on a show for the Eels faithful in Darwin.

We encourage all our fans and everyone who loves the game of rugby league in the Northern Territory to plan ahead and secure their spot at the game.
