The state’s peak business organisation, the NSW Business Chamber is pleased to announce it has been selected as a finalist in the Best Unconventional Project category at the World Chambers Congress Competition.
16 Chambers of Commerce from 11 countries have been shortlisted for the competition, with the NSW Business Chamber the only Australian entry to proceed to the final stage.
The entry centres around Skillsroad.com.au, our innovative online careers destination for youth and their key support groups; namely their parents, teachers and employers.
Skillsroad exists to help young people get into the right jobs, with the ultimate objective being to help ease youth unemployment rates and arrest the churn of young people through jobs. In turn, this will help lessen the burden and cost to employers in recruiting and retaining young staff.
“This is great news, and irrespective of the final result, one we are incredibly proud of,” said NSW Business Chamber CEO and World Chambers Federation Vice Chair Stephen Cartwright.
“Sydney hosted the Congress back in 2017 and showcased the capabilities of our Chamber to the world, and this is further recognition that NSW leads the way when it comes to Chamber operations,” Mr Cartwright said.
“The NSW Business Chamber has previously won categories at past Congresses and we know how tough the competition is just to be shortlisted for the finals.
“One of the many benefits of making the final stage is getting to hear from other Chambers of Commerce throughout the world as to what they are doing to benefit the business and broader communities where they operate.
“As an example, we will be competing with Chambers of Commerce from Russia, Turkey, Qatar and the host nation Brazil in June,” Mr Cartwright said.
