NSW police appeal after attempted carjacking at Broken Hill

Police are appealing for information after an alleged attempted carjacking in the state’s far west this week.

About 7.30pm on Monday (6 July 2020), a 35-year-old woman was driving her vehicle, with a 10-year-old girl as a passenger, on Boughtman Street, Broken Hill, when she stopped for a man who waved her down.

The unknown man opened the drivers door, before threatening her and demanding she get out. The woman excelerated and fled the location.

No one was injured during the incident.

Police from Barrier Police District were notified of the incident and have commenced an investigation.

The man is described as having an olive complexion, aged between 20 to 30, 180cm tall, and of slim-medium build. He was wearing a black jumper with grey stripes, and black pants.

Police are appealing for public assistance and urge anyone with information or any motorists who may have dash cam vision and were in the area to contact Broken Hill Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
