NSW police appeal for information after shooting at Penrith

A woman will face court today as investigations continue into the shooting of a man in Sydney’s west last week.

About 8.30am on Thursday (19 September 2019), a 32-year-old man presented himself to the emergency department at Nepean Hospital with a gunshot wound to his left foot.

Officers from the Nepean Area Command were notified and attended the hospital to speak to the injured man.

Investigators commenced inquiries into the incident and attended homes on Parker and Markham Streets, Penrith – however, were unable to locate a crime scene.

The man underwent treatment to have fragments removed from his foot before leaving in company of a woman, known to him.

Following inquiries, a 33-year-old woman was arrested in Penrith and taken to Penrith Police Station.

She was charged with hinder discovery evidence re: serious indictable offence.

Police will allege in court; the woman removed a specimen jar from the treatment room following the removal of the fragments and allegedly flushed them down a toilet.

The woman appeared in Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday (21 September 2019) and was refused bail to appear at Penrith Local Court today (Monday 23 September 2019).
