NSW police arrest man after woman’s body found

A man has been arrested following the discovery of a woman’s body in Sydney’s west yesterday.

About 9pm (Monday 8 June 2020), police were called to a home on Barlow Street, Cambridge Park, following reports of a concern for a woman’s welfare.

On arrival, officers found the body of a woman inside.

She is yet to be formally identified, however, is believed to be the 20-year-old occupant.

A crime scene was established which is continuing to be examined by specialist forensic officers.

Detectives from Nepean Police Area Command, assisted by the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.

Following inquiries, a 30-year-old man – known to the woman – was arrested on Hainsworth Street, Westmead, about 11am today (Tuesday 9 June 2020).

He has been taken to Parramatta Police Station where he is assisting police with their inquiries.

Investigations are continuing.
