St George Detectives Drug Unit have charged two men and two women over the alleged importation of more than $2 million worth of methylamphetamine concealed in food packages.
On Wednesday 6 May 2020, Australian Border Force intercepted an incoming consignment which appeared to contain food ration packs from the USA. Closer inspection of the package revealed 5.7kg of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $2.7 million.
On Friday 8 May 2020, detectives from St George Police Area Command established Strike Force Warland to investigate the importation of illicit drugs into NSW.
Following investigations, detectives yesterday (Wednesday 13 May 2020), arrested two men, aged 19 and 21 at a unit on Moorefields Road, Roselands. They were both taken to Campsie Police Station.
Meanwhile, a search warrant was executed at a home on Station Street, Arncliffe, where a 23-year-old woman was arrested, and a second search warrant was executed at a home on Fairview Street, Arncliffe, where a 23-year-old woman was arrested. They were taken to Kogarah Police Station.
They were all charged with importing commercial quantity of border controlled drug and participating in a criminal group.
The 19 and 21-year-old men were refused bail and will appear in Parramatta Local Court today (Thursday 14 May 2020).
The two 23-year-old women were also refused bail to appear before Central Local Court today.
