A man has been charged after cannabis worth over a million dollars was seized during a vehicle stop in the State’s Far West.
About 2.30am today (Monday 8 April 2019), police stopped a Mercedes Benz flat-bed van with QLD registration that was travelling east on Rakow Street (near Creedon St), for a random breath test.
After checking the driver’s NT licence and speaking to him further, police searched the truck.
Police located just over $20,000 cash and over 57kg of cannabis, with an estimated potential street value of over $1.1million.
The driver, a 69-year-old Queensland man, has been charged with supply prohibited drug (greater than commercial quantity) and dealing in the proceeds of crime.
He appeared at Broken Hill Local Court today (Monday 8 April 2019), where he was refused bail to reappear in the same court on Tuesday 11 June 2019.
