NSW police charge man after assault at Broken Hill

A man has been charged following an alleged assault in Broken Hill earlier this month.

About 3.30am on Sunday 13 March 2022, emergency services were called to Oxide Street, Broken Hill, following reports a man was bleeding from the head.

Officers attached to Barrier Police District attended a short time later and found a 28-year-old man with two large lacerations on his head.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Broken Hill Base Hospital.

A crime scene was established, and an investigation commenced into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following inquiries, about 3.45pm on Friday (18 March 2022), officers arrested an 18-year-old man at a home on Williams Street, Broken Hill.

He was taken to Broken Hill Police Station and charged with reckless wounding.

The man was refused bail at Dubbo Local Court on Saturday 19 March 2022, where he was given conditional bail to re-appear at Broken Hill Local Court on Tuesday 29 March 2022.
