NSW police charge man after assault at Willow Tree

A man remains in a serious but stable condition following an alleged assault in the state’s north west at the weekend.

About 1.15am yesterday (Sunday 8 November 2020), police responded to reports a 28-year-old man had been assaulted by a man known to him at a home at Willow Tree, approximately 20km south of Quirindi.

Police were told a group of people had been consuming alcohol at the address when a second man, also aged 28, punched the man in the face, knocking him unconscious.

The man was taken to Quirindi Hospital before being airlifted to John Hunter Hospital, where he currently remains in a serious but stable condition.

Officers attached to Oxley Police District arrested the 28-year-old man at the Willow Tree home.

He was taken to Tamworth Police Station and charged with reckless grievous bodily harm.

The man was bail refused to appear before Tamworth Local Court today (Monday 9 November 2020).
