NSW police charge man after detaining teenager at Penrith

Police have charged a man after he allegedly detained a teenager he met through an online dating site, in Sydney’s west overnight.

About 1.00am (Friday 10 January 2020), the 26-year-old met a 17-year-old girl at her friend’s house in Penrith.

A short time later, the man and the girl left in his car to buy food at a fast-food restaurant.

After getting food, the man allegedly refused to return the teenager to her friend’s house and drove in another direction.

The teenager was able to send a message to a friend, who alerted police.

Officers from Nepean Police Area Command stopped the man’s vehicle on the M4 at Emu Plains, where he was arrested and charged with detain for advantage.

He appeared at Penrith Local Court today and was granted conditional bail. He is next due to appear at the same court on Friday 6 March 2020.
