NSW police charge man after fatal Lake Munmorah crash

A man has been charged following a fatal crash on the Central Coast last week.

About 8.15pm on Friday (16 October 2020), emergency services were called to the Pacific Highway near Colongra Bay Road, Lake Munmorah, following reports a Subaru WRX and a Toyota Landcruiser had collided.

The driver of the Toyota, a 29-year-old woman, died at the scene. Her passenger, a five-month-old girl, was freed from the vehicle by witnesses, before being taken to John Hunter Hospital for observation.

The driver of the Subaru, a 34-year-old man, was taken to John Hunter Hospital under police guard for mandatory testing and observation. His 28-year-old male passenger was also transported with minor injuries.

Officers from Tuggerah Lakes Police District established a crime scene, with the Crash Investigation Unit commencing an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following inquiries, the 34-year-old Lake Munmorah man was released from hospital and taken to Wyong Police Station where he was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death-drive manner dangerous, negligent drive occasioning death, and cause bodily harm by misconduct.

He was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear in Wyong Local Court on Wednesday 18 November 2020.
