NSW police charge man after loaded firearm seized during vehicle stop

A man will appear before court today after being charged with firearm and drug offences in Sydney’s west.

About 5pm yesterday (Saturday 25 September 2021), officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol stopped a vehicle for a random breath test on Hunter Street, Parramatta.

Subsequent checks revealed the driver of the vehicle, a 25-year-old man, was allegedly in breach of bail conditions and was arrested.

Officers from the Raptor Squad attended, and a search of the vehicle was conducted, with police seizing a loaded revolver and prohibited drugs.

Police also seized pistol ammunition that was located under a baby capsule in the rear passenger seat of the vehicle.

The man was taken to Parramatta Police Station where he was charged with possess unauthorised prohibited firearm, not keep firearm safely – prohibited firearm, possess ammunition without holding licence, possess prohibited drug and breach of bail.

He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Bail Court today (Sunday 26 September 2021).
