NSW police charge man after police officer injured at Cobbitty

A man has been charged after a police officer was injured in south-west of Sydney overnight.

About 8pm (Saturday 25 July 2020), officers attached to Camden Police Area Command were called to a home on Egan Circuit, Cobbitty following a domestic related incident.

While speaking to a 38-year-old woman who had allegedly been assaulted, a man at the home became aggressive towards officers.

When officers tried to arrest the 35-year-old man, he resisted and was taken to the ground where it is alleged a female constable was injured during the struggle.

Further police attended to assist, and the man was handcuffed and taken to Narellan Police Station.

He was charged with two counts of common assault (DV), resist officer in the execution of duty and assault police officer in the execution of duty.

The man was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Sunday 26 July 2020).

The injured constable was taken to Campbelltown Hospital and treated for a fractured finger.
