A man will appear in court today, charged after a woman was found with a stab wound to the leg on Monday.
About 7.30pm (Monday 6 July 2020), emergency services were called to Boomerang Place in Cambridge Gardens following reports of a stabbing.
Police were told a man approached a white Hyundai Getz parked in a supermarket carpark and became involved in an argument with a woman seated in the passenger seat.
The argument turned physical when the man allegedly stabbed the woman in the leg and smashed the rear passenger window of the Hyundai, before fleeing the scene.
The 37-year-old woman was taken to Nepean Hospital in a stable condition.
A crime scene was established and a search for the man commenced with assistance from Pol Air and the Dog Unit.
Following further inquiries, about 12.30pm yesterday (Tuesday 7 July 2020), a 39-year-old man was arrested by officers attached to North West Metropolitan High Risk Domestic Violence Team at a pharmacy on the Great Western Highway in Kingswood.
Upon searching the man, police allegedly found a small amount of drugs.
He was taken to Penrith Police Station where he was charged with wound person intend to cause grievous bodily harm (DV), assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV), common assault (DV), destroy or damage property (DV), and possess prohibited drug.
The man was refused bail to appear in Penrith Local Court today (Wednesday 8 July 2020).
The man and woman are known to each other.
