NSW police charge man over attempted murder of partner at Fairfield

A man will face court today, charged over the alleged attempted murder of his partner in Sydney’s south-west yesterday.

Just after 7.30am (Monday 2 January 2023, police and emergency services responded following reports of a domestic-related stabbing at a home at Fairfield.

On arrival, officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command were told a 54-year-old woman had been taken by a family member to hospital for treatment to a serious laceration to her throat.

The woman has since undergone surgery and remains at Liverpool Hospital in a serious condition.

Police established a crime scene at the Fairfield property, which was examined by specialist forensic officers, and a large knife seized.

A 57-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken Fairfield Police Station.

He has since been charged with cause wounding/grievous bodily harm to person with intent to murder.

The man was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Tuesday 3 January 2023).
