NSW police charge man over break-in at Bankstown

A man has been charged after allegedly breaking into a home and confronting the elderly resident in Sydney’s south west overnight.

About 4.30am today (Saturday 23 May 2020), a man allegedly gained access to a home on Megan Avenue at Bankstown.

It’s alleged the man confronted an 87-year-old woman, who had been sleeping, before her relatives heard the commotion and apprehended the man.

Police were alerted and officers from Bankstown Police Area Command attended and arrested the 26-year-old.

During a search of the man, police located and seized a knife, screwdriver, and a small amount of methamphetamine.

The Condell Park man was taken to Bankstown Police Station where he was charged with aggravated break, enter and commit serious indictable offence; possess housebreaking implements; possess prohibited drug; armed with intent commit indictable offence.

He was bail refused to appear at Parramatta Bail Court tomorrow (Sunday 24 May 2020).
