NSW police charge man over DV-related death at Greendale

A man has been charged with murder following the death of a woman near Liverpool.

Officers from Liverpool City Police Area Command were called to a home on Greendale Road, Greendale, about 9.30pm on Friday 30 December 2022, after a woman was found deceased inside her home.

The woman is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be aged in her 70s.

A crime scene was established, and an investigation begun by Liverpool City detectives, assisted by the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad.

Following extensive inquiries, the woman’s son was arrested about 1am yesterday (Saturday 31 December 2022), at a service station at West Ballina by officers attached to Richmond Police District.

The 41-year-old man was taken to Lismore Base Hospital for assessment; before he was transferred to a mental health unit.

He was charged with murder and breach AVO.

He was refused bail to appear before Lismore Local Court on Sunday 1 January 2023.
