NSW police charge man over sexual abuse of young girl in Sydney’s south

A man will reappear in court today charged over the alleged sexual abuse of a young girl in Sydney’s south.

In April this year, detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation following reports a young girl had been sexually abused by a man known to her.

Following inquiries, detectives arrested a 26-year-old man at a unit in Sans Souci just after 6pm on Thursday 2 April 2020.

The man was taken to St George Police Station and charged with sexual intercourse with child under the age of 10 years and attempt sexual intercourse with child under the age of 10 years.

Police will allege the man sexually abused a six-year-old girl at a home in Sydney’s south earlier this year.

The man appeared at Central Local Court on Friday 3 April 2020, where he was formally refused bail to reappear at Sutherland Local Court today (Monday 25 May 2020).

The Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate matters against children and adults, including sexual assault, serious physical abuse, and extreme cases of neglect.
