NSW police charge teen after child locked in toilet cubicle at Lake Illawarra

A teenager has been charged after a child was allegedly pushed into a toilet cubicle in Albion Park at the weekend.

About 5.30pm on Saturday 27 February 2021, a seven-year-old girl entered a public toilet at a park on Station Road, Albion Park Rail.

Police have been told an unknown male stopped the girl from leaving the toilet block, pushing her into a cubicle and locking the door.

The girl’s mother was trying to force the door when a teenage boy opened the door and ran away.

The child was taken from the cubicle and police were alerted.

Officers from Lake Illawarra Police District attended and commenced inquiries.

A short time later, a 15-year-old boy was arrested at a home nearby. He was taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station, where he was charged with take etc person intend commit serious indictable offence, and common assault.

The teen was granted conditional bail to appear at a children’s court on Wednesday 10 March 2021.
