NSW police charge teen over wounding at Broken Hill

A teen has been charged after a man was injured during an altercation in Broken Hill yesterday.

Just after 5am (Sunday 20 March 2022), two males, aged 16 and 19, attended a home in Broken Hill to speak with the occupant – a 16-year-old teenage boy.

A verbal altercation ensued between the trio, before the 16-year-old occupant allegedly produced a pair of scissors and slashed the 19-year-old man’s face.

A short time later, emergency services attended and treated the man on scene before he was airlifted to Adelaide Hospital with serious injuries.

Officers attached to Barrier Police District attended and established a crime scene.

Police arrested a 16-year-old teen nearby and he was taken to Broken Hill Police Station and charged with reckless wounding.

The teen will appear at a children’s court today (Monday 21 March 2022).

All three are known to each other.
