NSW police charge teens with attempted murder at Albury

Two teenage boys will appear in children’s court today, charged with attempted murder after a girl was found with multiple stab wounds in the state’s south yesterday.

About 12.30am yesterday (Monday 11 November 2019), two teens visited the home of an acquaintance on Swan Street in Albury, requesting a room to stay for the night.

About 9.30am, emergency services were called to the Swan Street home following reports that the building was on fire.

Officers attached to Murray River Police District, Fire and Rescue NSW and NSW Ambulance paramedics attended and found a 16-year-old girl within the burning building in a semi-conscious state.

She was treated at the scene for multiple stab wounds to her abdomen, back and head, before being taken to hospital with a punctured liver.

The girl is currently recovering in hospital and is in a stable position.

Following inquiries, about 11.50am yesterday, officers arrested two boys, aged 16 and 17, on Allawah Street, North Albury.

Police were told the teens had allegedly assaulted the 16-year-old before setting fire to the bedroom.

The two teens were taken to Albury Police Station and charged with attempted murder, wound with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, choke person with intent to commit indictable offence, armed with intent to commit indictable offence, take person in company with intent to commit serious indictable offence and destroy/damage property with intent to endanger life.

They were refused bail to appear before a children’s court today (Tuesday 12 November 2019).
