Three people have been charged following a public order incident, where a police vehicle was damaged, in Blacktown last month.
About 8.25pm on Tuesday 11 February 2020, officers attached to Mount Druitt Highway Patrol attended The Great Western Highway and Flushcombe Road, in response to reports of alleged anti-social behaviour.
Upon arrival, police observed between approximately 100 and 150 people at the location, and an orange Holden VF sedan allegedly conducting a burnout in two of the three eastbound lanes.
Due to safety concerns of the large crowd being on the road, The Great Western Highway was shut down by police.
As officers tried to reach the Holden, it is alleged the crowd prevented the passage of the police vehicle by refusing to move from the roadway.
Some members of the crowd allegedly caused damage to the police vehicle, with one woman falling onto the bonnet and another man standing on top of the bonnet, while others kicked and stomped on the vehicle.
As a result of the incident, the fully marked Traffic and Highway Patrol Command vehicle sustained significant damage, with an estimated value of $11,500.
Police commenced an investigation to identify those involved in the incident and following inquiries, attended a home on Ryan Street, St Marys, on Wednesday 12 February.
A 29-year-old woman, believed to be the owner of the orange Holden, was spoken to and issued a Future Court Attendance Notice for responsible person/custodian not disclose driver’s details.
She is due to appear at Mt Druitt Local Court on Wednesday 6 May 2020.
On Friday 13 March 2020, officers attended Pavonia Way, Blacktown, and arrested a 20-year-old man.
He was charged with destroy or damage property (greater than $5,000, less than $15,000), riot, resist or hinder police officer in the execution of duty, and pedestrian obstruct driver’s/other pedestrian’s path.
The man was issued a Future Court Attendance Notice to appear at Mt Druitt Local Court on Thursday 21 May 2020.
Following further inquiries, police spoke with a 21-year-old woman at a home on Bottleburch Crescent, Cranebrook, on Thursday (19 March 2020).
She was charged with intentionally mark premises etc without prescribed consent and issued a Future Court Attendance Notice to appear at Mt Druitt Local Court on Tuesday 30 June 2020.
