NSW police charge two for dangerous driving in stolen car near Goulburn

Two men have been charged following numerous driving complaints on the Hume Highway near Goulburn.

About 10.30am yesterday (Wednesday 23 October 2019), police were alerted to a vehicle being driven at high speeds on the Hume Highway near Goulburn.

The vehicle came to a stop on the side of the road near Wollogorang Road, before allegedly accelerating harshly in a northerly direction as Traffic and Highway Patrol Officers approached the vehicle.

Shortly after, road spikes were deployed on the Hume Highway near Boxers Creek.

On sighting police, the vehicle allegedly crossed to the wrong side of the road and continued driving at high speeds in a northerly direction.

Police later attended South Marulan Road following reports the vehicle was parked on the side of the road.

Further checks of the vehicle revealed it had been reported stolen from the Riverina area in August 2018.

Officers established a perimeter before locating two men in nearby bushland. Police engaged in a foot pursuit and apprehended a 23-year-old and 21-year-old man.

The 23-year-old man was found with ice and cash in his possession.

The two men were arrested and taken to Goulburn Police Station.

The 23-year-old man was charged with drive manner dangerous, goods in custody, goods in custody motor vehicle and supply prohibited drugs.

The 21-year-old man was charged with an outstanding warrant and being carried in conveyance.

The two men were bail refused and are due to face Goulburn Local Court today (Thursday 24 October 2019).
