NSW police charge two men after aggravated break and enter at Tamworth

Two men have been charged following an investigation into an aggravated break enter and steal in the state’s north east this week.

About 10.55pm on Monday (23 March 2020), five males entered a store on Peel Street, Tamworth after allegedly smashing the front door with a baseball bat and leaving with items of value.

Officers attached to Oxley Police District attended a short time later and conducted a search of the nearby park.

Officers arrested a 16-year-old boy after a brief struggle where an officer suffered a facial laceration.

A short time later, a 14-year-old boy was arrested on Carthage Street and a 18,19 and 13 year old were arrested in Hill Street, Tamworth.

All items that were allegedly stolen from the store were recovered.

All five males were taken to Tamworth Police Station, where the two men were charged with aggravated break and enter and steal in company.

The 18-year-old man was given conditional bail to appear at Tamworth Local Court on Tuesday 31 March 2020.

The 19-year-old man was given conditional bail to appear at Tamworth Local Court on Monday 15 June 2020.

The three teenagers will be dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.
