NSW police charge woman after Glebe assault

A woman has been charged over the wounding of a man in Sydney’s Inner West on yesterday.

About 10.20am (Sunday 14 July 2019), members of the public attended a unit complex on Glebe Point Road about an unrelated matter. After noticing blood in one of the common areas, they alerted police.

Officers were directed to a nearby unit where they found a 62-year-old man with head injuries.

The injured man was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a stable condition. It’s alleged he had been attacked with a hammer and handsaw.

Officers from Leichhardt Police Area Command commenced inquiries.

About 4.10pm today (Monday 15 July 2019), a 60-year-old woman, who is known to the man, was arrested on Glebe Point Road after another incident in which she allegedly smashed a door and assaulted a 36-year-old man.

She was taken to Newtown Police Station and charged with wound with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, assault (x2), and malicious damage.

She was refused bail to appear at Newtown Local Court tomorrow (Tuesday 16 July 2019).
