NSW police charge woman after police cars rammed

A woman has been charged after two police vehicles were rammed and an officer injured on the Central Coast this morning.

About 12.05am today (Sunday 20 February 2022), police patrolling Toomeys Road, Mt Elliott, attempted to stop a vehicle which had been reported stolen.

When the driver allegedly ignored directions, a pursuit was initiated and continued through suburbs including Wyoming, Gosford and Niagra Park.

Police will allege the female driver deliberately rammed two police vehicles after she was followed into Kent Street, Niagra Park.

A 30-year-old woman was arrested at the scene and taken to Gosford Police Station where she was charged with seven offences:

  • Take and drive conveyance without consent
  • Police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously
  • Drive disqualified
  • Use weapon to avoid apprehension
  • Resist officer in execution of duty
  • Carry cutting weapon upon apprehension, and
  • Custody of a knife in a public place.

A male senior constable suffered soft tissue damage during the arrest.

The woman, from The Entrance, was refused bail to appear before Newcastle Bail Court later today (Sunday 20 February 2022).
