NSW police charge woman after pursuit at Taree

A woman will appear in court tomorrow charged following a pursuit with police on a stolen motorcycle in the states north today.

Just before 2pm (Tuesday 9 August 2022), officers from Manning Great Lakes Police District, sighted a motorcycle with no number plates travelling along Kanangra Drive, Taree.

Police have attempted to stop the motorcycle, however the rider allegedly failed to stop as directed by police and a pursuit was initiated from Kanangra Drive and later terminated in Commerce Street due to safety concerns.

The rider has continued to the roundabout at the intersection of Commerce and High Streets before colliding heavily with the side of a Nissan Navara.

As officers approached, the rider has fled the scene on foot, running along Little Wynter Street, before police arrested a 25-year-old woman in the backyard of a private property.

She was taken to Taree police station where she was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics and later charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, knowingly deal with proceeds of crime, supply prohibited drug more than indictable & less than commercial quantity and goods in personal custody suspected being stolen.

She was refused bail and will appear before Taree Local Court tomorrow (Wednesday 10 August 2022)
