A woman has been charged as part of an ongoing investigation into the trafficking of contraband into a correctional facility on the state’s South Coast by a Corrective Services NSW officer.
Last month, detectives from the Corrective Services Investigation Unit established Strike Force Draymar to investigate reports of corrupt activity by a male Corrective Services employee.
As part of their investigations, detectives charged a 50-year-old man, who is a Corrective Services NSW officer, earlier this week. He remains before the courts.
Following further inquiries, detectives arrested a 32-year-old woman at a home in Greenacre about 2pm yesterday (Friday 17 April 2020).
Shortly after, strike force investigators, with assistance from the Dog Unit, executed a search warrant at the home and seized $3000 cash, prescription medication, prohibited drugs and mobile phones.
The woman was taken to Bankstown Police Station, where she was charged with nine offences including;
- supply prohibited drug,
- supply prohibited drug (indictable quantity x2),
- supply specified substance otherwise than by wholesale,
- corruptly give/offer to agent,
- possess prohibited drug,
- participate criminal group contribute criminal activity,
- knowingly deal with proceeds of crime, and
- not comply with noticed direction re s 7/8/9 – COVID-19.
Police will allege in court that the woman supplied contraband – including prohibited drugs – to a Corrective Services NSW officer to be passed on to an inmate at a correctional facility in Nowra.
The woman was refused bail and is due to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Saturday 18 April 2020).
Investigations under Strike Force Draymar are continuing.
