NSW police charge woman over crash with police car after pursuit at Temora

A woman has been charged after colliding with a police vehicle following a pursuit in the state’s Riverina region yesterday.

About 11am on Monday (4 October 2021), officers attached to Riverina Police District Highway Patrol observed a red Ford hatchback with no numberplates travelling on Goldfields Way at Temora.

The driver failed to stop as directed and allegedly accelerated from police, before turning down Kitchener Road.

A pursuit was initiated and terminated a short time later, after the Ford allegedly began travelling on the wrong side of the road on Hoskins Street.

The driver then allegedly changed direction at Aurora Street, before driving into a police vehicle.

The driver – a 24-year-old woman – was arrested at the scene. Checks revealed her licence had been cancelled.

No one was injured in the crash; however, both vehicles sustained significant damage.

The woman was taken to Temora Police Station and charged with five offences including;

  • Police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly,
  • drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous,
  • use unregistered vehicle on road or road related area,
  • drive uninsured vehicle, and,
  • drive while licence cancelled.

The Temora woman was refused bail and is due to appear at Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Monday 5 October 2021).
